Levon Malkhasyan

Levon Malkhasyan is an Armenian jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader. He was born in 1945 in Yerevan. Malkhasyan is one of the notable figures of Armenian jazz and has performed for many years both as a solo artist and with his own ensembles. His name is closely associated with the development of Yerevan’s jazz scene and with concert initiatives that helped sustain live jazz in the city. He led the Malkhas Jazz Band, presenting programs built around jazz standards as well as original material. He is also associated with the Malkhas Jazz Club in Yerevan, a well-known venue for live jazz performance. In 2006, he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Armenia. Alongside his performing career, Malkhasyan has been involved in organizing jazz events and supporting the broader presence of jazz culture in Armenia.
