Alexander Boldachev — harp
“Strings of Armenia” is a special solo programme by internationally acclaimed harpist Alexander Boldachev, created for Yerevan. It is a musical journey from Armenian cultural memory to the masterpieces of classical music and the iconic sound of modern popular culture.
The evening begins with the poetic world of Komitas, followed by the brilliance and energy of Aram Khachaturian, the lyricism of Arno Babajanian and the cinematic nostalgia of Mikael Tariverdiev. Through Charles Aznavour and Michel Legrand, the programme moves into the world of chanson, cinema, love and memory.
At the heart of the concert, the harp reveals its full expressive and virtuosic range through music by Bach, Vivaldi, Daquin, Chopin and Debussy, followed by powerful works by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich.
The finale takes the harp far beyond the boundaries of traditional classical music. Hits by Gotye, Scorpions, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Lennon and Queen are transformed into striking new concert interpretations, culminating in the legendary Bohemian Rhapsody.
And for the encore — an unexpected burst of energy with Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.
This is not a traditional harp recital. It is a journey from Komitas to Queen, from Yerevan to the world, from classical elegance to the energy of rock.
